Young Author's Contest

June 12th - July 22nd
8-18 year olds

Write a fictional short story 1200-3000 words
Submit between June 12th - July 22nd
Follow the instructions and turn in your story to the Children's Desk
Each submission must be turned in with the permission slip at the Children's Desk.

There are 3 age groups:
ages 8-10
ages 11-12
ages 13-18

There are 3 prizes in each age group
1st place - $150
2nd pace - $100
3rd place - $50

Kermit the Newf "Author" Visit


Monday, June 26th
2:00 pm Community Room


  • Kermit and nephew Fozzie Bear will talk about Kermit's new book, "The Adventures of Kermit the Newf: Book 1: Dog Tales"
  • Learn about the life of a Newfoundland dog
  • Free book for all children as supplies last
  • Meet in the Story Tower after the presentation for a chance to read with Newf.

Make and Take Craft


Monday, June 26th
3:00-4:45 pm Craft Corner


  • Stop by anytime from 3:00 - 4:45 to make a fun summer craft
  • All children are welcome
  • No registration is required
  • Children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult

Junior Science Club - Coding


Tuesday, June 27th
3:00-4:00 pm Community Room


  • Registration begins June 5th
  • 6-8 year olds and their adult
  • Create Computer actions or even create a game in a fun and safe environment
  • Children must be signed up for Summer Reading
  • Registration is required!  Stop by the children's desk or call 657-8256.

Tween STEAM- Slime

  • Registration begins June 5th
  • 9-12 year olds
  • Come make different types of slime

Crochet for Cats


Fiber Arts with a Purpose with Fran

3:00 - 4:00 pm 2nd Floor Large Conference Room


  • 9-12 year olds
  • Fran will teach kids how to crochet
  • The animal shelters will benefit
  • The crochet mats will help cats and kittens feel less scared

R.E.A.D. to a Dog


Saturday, July 1st
10:30 - 11:30 am Story Tower


  • Each reader will have a chance to read to one dog
  • All children who are readers are welcome
  • Registration is the day of the program at the Children's Desk!
