The guide to living cheap will contain some things that seem obvious. Sometimes the obvious things are over looked. As we enter 2010 let’s make a resolution to save money easily by utilizing your public library
1) Use the library…magazines and newspapers. If you have not been in your local public library lately, you are missing out and wasting money. Do you know what you spend on getting magazines and newspapers delivered to your house? All can be eliminated by visiting your library and reading theirs for nothing. You can see more magazines this way… all at no cost.
2) Use the library for internet access…my library in Arizona has 40 computer terminals. All have high-speed internet connections. You can check and write emails, surf the net in a safe secure environment.
3) Use the library to check out DVD’s and book tapes. The selection of DVDs is stunning at most public libraries. You save the money of going to Blockbuster and you might even pick up some documentary DVDs that will be beneficial to the family. Book tapes are a great way to pass the miles on a long car trip.
4) Almost forgot books. In our current pace of life, the time we can spend with a great book is time well spent. You should make reading a way of life for both you and your family. No one will suffer by turning off the TV for a bit while you explore some great literature or recreational reading.
5) The librarians are there to help you find what you need. That is what they are paid to do. You can find almost anything on the internet…let a pro show you how to get the most out of this vast resource.
The guide to living cheap starts at the obvious…using your public library is a great way to save money and expand your horizons. Very few things are free anymore or supported by your taxes. The library is such a resource…use it and save money.
