2020 Poetry Contest

Attention all poetry lovers!

Celebrate National Poetry Month in April by participating in Billings Public Library’s Second Annual Poetry Contest.

Poets of all ages are welcome to submit their work as the contest is divided into three age groups—Children (age 0-12), Young Adult (age 13-19), and Adult (age 20+). Three cash prizes will be awarded in each age group: First Place: $50, Second Place: $30, and Third Place: $20.

We will be accepting submissions starting March 2nd through April 3rd. The winners will be contacted before the end of April. Further details regarding the event will soon be posted on the library’s website and social media platforms.

Submission Guidelines: From March 2nd to April 3rd, participants may submit up to three poems that have not been previously published, one poem per page. Include a title page, which must include the following: Name, Age, Phone Number, Address, and Poem Titles. Poems will be judged anonymously, so DO NOT put your name on the poem itself; just on the title page.

How to Submit: Hardcopy entries may be submitted at the First Floor Help Desk. Children may submit hardcopy poems to the Children’s desk. Entries may also be submitted electronically 2020 Poetry Online Submission. Or download the form here.

Call or stop by the library with any questions or for further clarification regarding the contest’s rules, guidelines, etc.
