2026 Library Con Fan Art Contest Entry Form - Digital Only

  1. Submission Guidelines:
    • RULES MUST BE FOLLOWED OR ENTRY MAY BE DISQUALIFIED

       

      • Artwork must be received by Friday, May 1st, before Library close (8:00 pm) in order to be considered for the fanart contest.  
      • Digital art must be sent in .jpg, .png, or .tif format.  No video formats will be accepted.
      •  
        • Artwork will be displayed in the BPL 1st floor lobby, both before and during the 2026 Library Con.
        • The piece must be suitable for General audiences.
        • The piece must be fanart. (Artwork that depicts established characters or other aspects of science fiction. fantasy, or horror properties (such as video games, books, films, or tv shows) in an original or transformative way.)
        • The piece must be the original creation of the artist submitting it.
        • No use of AI software is permitted. 
        • The Library Con's contest theme for 2026 is “Show Us Your Hero”, and the artwork's use of this theme will be considered by our judges.
        • Prize winners will be announced at the event on Saturday, May 16th, 2026, and prizes may be picked up during or after the announcements. 
        • Prizes will be awarded within the following categories:
          • Age group
          • Digital Art (Artwork created using graphic/painting software such as Adobe Illustrator or Procreate)
          • Traditional Art (Artwork created on canvas or paper, using mediums like pencil, ink, paint, or collage)
          • Video Game Photography (Artwork created using screenshots of a video game as its base. The screenshot may be altered through image editing software if desired)

  5. Publication Permission Form

    By signing this release form, each entrant and/or each entrant’s parent/legal guardian signing for a child under the age of eighteen (18) gives permission to Billings Public Library to use this entry in the Billings Public Library's Library Con Fanart Contest for promotional purposes in any way deemed proper by the Billings Public Library without additional consent or payment to the child or anyone on the child's behalf claiming to have right to such payment.

    Examples of how the fanart may be used by the Library:

    • Included with an online collection of other fan art on the Billings Public Library's official website.
    • Displayed as part of an exhibit in the BPL building.
    • Educational or promotional presentations for any Billings Public Library sponsored programs that may be included in a media broadcast or print.

    There is no time limit on the validity of this release nor is there any geographic specification of where these materials may be distributed. Each entrant and each entrant guardian (parent/legal guardian) signing for a child under the age of eighteen (18), agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Billings Public Library, its officers, employees and agents from and against any and all claims, action, costs, judgments or damages of any type relating to the use of the fan art created for the Library Con Fanart Contest.
